What are carbon credit registries for?
Carbon credit registries identify units with serial numbers and record their ownership and status. At Carbonetica Registry, operations requiring approval involve two distinct accounts and leave an audit event.
Independent verification
A third party checks data and results before issuance.
Serialised issuance
Each tonne of CO₂e becomes one unit with a unique serial.
Recorded transfer
A separate proposal and approval update ownership.
Retirement
Retirement is permanent and creates a verifiable certificate.
Public control
Serial, project, lead and status are public; participants remain confidential and no company dossier is acquired.
A necessary distinction
Carbonetica Registry is a private registry for the voluntary market. EU ETS allowances belong to the EU Union Registry. Registration does not, by itself, confer recognition under the EU CRCF framework or replace independent project verification.
